On November 22nd, 2014 GHGH hosted 115 girls at our annual health summit, an event run by girls for girls. Girls participated in a myriad of activities and workshops geared toward youth and health empowerment.
Goals of the 2014 Summit:
- To decide collectively what health related issue GHGH will take action on this year to create a positive change in our community
- To have fun!
- To learn new things about ourselves and others!
This was a completely girl-led summit and the Girls Leadership Network (GLN) did a fantastic job MCing the event and leading bonding activities throughout the day. Additionally, the GLN presented GHGH research findings from 2009 of what health issues are most important to girls in Monterey County. At the end of the presentation all girl present were invited to vote on the most important health issue facing girls today: the vote results were counted and it was determined that in 2015 we will be taking action on Emotional and Social Health!
