denim day 1

Wednesday, April 23rd is International Denim Day which recalls an Italian court case which sparked international outcry because the judges dismissed charges against the rapist due to the victim wearing jeans. The court stated that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them, implying consent.

This unpopular verdict has become an international symbol of the myth-based injustice for sexual assault victims during April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).  So, make sure to wear denim on April 23rd to show your solidarity with victims and support for ending sexual assault.
