This is a part-time non-exempt (hourly wage) internship without benefits ~10-21 hours/wk. This position has flexible hours as meetings and program activities may occasionally occur outside of normal office hours and in various locations. The GHGH Program Assistant intern’s primary work location will be the Monterey County Health Department office at 1270 Natividad Road, Salinas.

Compensation: Hourly, commensurate with experience $13.50-17.50/hr.

What does a GHGH Program Assistant intern get to learn?

  • The GHGH Program Assistant internship is a hands-on learning experience which prepares interns interested in becoming stronger community activists, youth development educators and public health professionals.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in one of the 6 agency programs of GHGH (MyLife, Girls’ Inc, Peer Leaders-PPMM, Postpone, Boys & Girls Clubs, YEA-YWCA) or other youth leadership program.
  • GHGH intern assists with planning, promotion, production, implementation, evaluation, written and visual documentation and reporting of diverse GHGH activities throughout Monterey County and online.  He or she may also assist, with general administrative support of programs’ and operations. The GHGH Program Assistant works under the supervision of the Program Coordinator for GHGH.  
  • The position includes co-facilitating the GHGH youth leadership training curriculum, creating and curating website media content, blogging, social media management, logistical support for events, and assistance with program evaluation. The position may also involve advocacy research and community action support.
